KATHMANDU – CHITWAN – POKHARA

DAY 01: KATHMANDU    

Arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport at Kathmandu. Meet, assist at the airport then transfer to the Hotel (Check in at 14:00).

 

Afternoon walking tour of typical local market called Ason Bazaar. This is very old market lying in the heart of the Kathmandu valley. The six different streets converge on Ason Bazaar make it the busiest junction in Kathmandu. There are many shops offering a variety of spices, Vegetables, Fruits, meat, color powders and many more. The major shrine of the bazaar is the Annapurna temple, the goddess is represented by a filled grain measure. Discover Kathmandu’s rich culture among the bustling streets and many courtyards which forms the base of living in Kathmandu.

 

Continuing sightseeing of Kathmandu Durbar Square (UNESCO World Heritage Site), Located in the heart of the capital city, is also known as Hanuman Dhoka square. The name Hanuman Dhoka came from the statue of Hanuman at the entrance of the royal palace, established by the Malla King from 15th to 18th century. The Major attraction in Kathmandu Durbar Square are Taleju temple, gigantic figure of Kalbhairav (the god of destruction), Basantapur Durbar Palace, Shiva-Parvati  and temple of Kumari on the residence of living goddess.  Overnight.

 

DAY 02: KATHMANDU

Morning sightseeing of Boudhanath (UNESCO World Heritage Site), situated 8 km to the east from city center of Kathmandu. It was renovated in 8th century. The 36-meter-high stupa of Boudhanath is one of the largest stupa in South Asia. Here you can see many monasteries surrounding it. On each side is a pair of the all-seeing-eyes of the Buddha symbolizing awareness. Boudhanath is a very important and holy stupa to Buddhists, particularly to the Tibetan Buddhists.

 

Later Pashupatinath Temple (UNESCO World Heritage Site), about 5 km north-east from city center of Kathmandu. This is the most sacred and one of the holiest Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva.  Chronicles indicate the temple’s existence prior to 400 BC but the main sanctuary of Pashupatinath complex was built in 17th century to replace the past one. Devotees can be seen taking ritual dips in the holy Bagmati river flowing beside the temple. Cremation of the dead body Hindus/Buddhist takes place at the bank of Bagmati River at Pashupatinath.

 

 

Afternoon Bhaktapur Durbar Square (UNESCO World Heritage Site), It is also known as  Bhadgaon, which lies 15 km east of Kathmandu and was built by King Yaksha Malla in 15 century. This city is one of the unique master pieces of wood carving, stone carving and also for Pottery that preserves the world’s oldest pottery profession. The Major attraction in Bhaktapur Durbar Square are: Golden Gate, The palace of 55 windows, Taleju Temple, Vatsala Temple, Bhairava Nath Temple, Mini Pashupati temple and Pottery Square. Also visit Pottery workshop. Later visit Thimi. It is one of the ancient cultural and historical places.

 

DAY 03: KATHMANDU

Morning Patan Durbar Square (UNESCO World Heritage Site), situated 6 Km south from centre of the Kathmandu city, also known as Lalitpur. The city is surrounded by 4 Stupas as 4 corners of Patan, one at each corner of its cardinal points. These stupas are said to have been built by the famous Emperor Ashoka. There are three main courtyards in the palace: Mul Chowk, Sundari Chowk and Keshav Narayan Chowk. The Major attraction in Patan Durbar Square are: Taleju Temple, Krishna Temple (which is devoted to Lord Krishna, is one of the best examples of stone architecture in Nepal), Bhimsen Temple and the Golden Temple of Hiranya Varna.

 

Later Swayambhunath (UNESCO World Heritage Site), about 3 Km west from city center of Kathmandu.  Swayambhu means "Self-Created." It is also called Monkey Temple. The world’s most glorious Buddhist Chaityas built 2000 years ago situated on top of the hillock. Visitors will also have a panoramic view of the valley from this spot. Swayambhunath Stupa, which is considered one of the most imposing stupa in the world, rises high. One can  reach  the  stupa  by  going  up about  365  steeps  stone  steps.  The four sides of the stupa depict Buddha’s eyes of wisdom, which see through all existences.  

 

Afternoon free.

 

DAY 04: KATHMANDU - CHITWAN (170 KM – 5 hrs approx)     

Morning drive to Chitwan. During the drive you will enjoy the scenic view of Landscape and Trishuli River as well as Narayani River. Upon arrival at Resort, a welcome drink is served and briefing on the programme by senior staff. Lunch then Village tour to a nearby ethnic Tharu village where you can observe about the lifestyle of Tharu people. View sunset with Tea/ Coffee. In the evening jungle expert will brief you about history and data of Chitwan National Park with Slide Presentation. Dinner and Overnight.

DAY 05: CHITWAN
Morning Nature walk / bird watching, Elephant briefing and Elephant bathing (seasonal). Lunch then Canoeing on the Rapati River, visit Crocodile Breeding center and Jeep Safari. View sunset with Tea/ Coffee. Evening Tharu stick dance and Dinner.

 

06: CHITWAN – POKHARA (155 KM – 5 hrs approx)  

Morning drive to Pokhara. Pokhara is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Nepal, situated in the northwestern, at an altitude of 900 meters. Afternoon free time for rest or walk around Lakeside by own. Overnight.

 

DAY 07: POKHARA

Early morning drive to Sarangkot (1592m) to for the sun rise and Mountain view (Weather Permit) then on the way back visit Bindhyabasini Temple - This is Hindu temple dedicated to the goddess Durga, and Old Bazaar – This is a traditional market and most of the houses are built by using red brick. Then back to hotel for breakfast. Free time for rest.

 

Later sightseeing of World Peace Stupa, Davi’s Fall - The water that feeds the Devi’s Falls comes from the Phewa Lake, Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave – Temple of Load Shiva, Tibetan Refugee Camp, boat ride on the Phewa Lake & visit Barahi Temple.

 

DAY 08: POKHARA - KATHMANDU (200 KM – 6 hrs approx)         

After breakfast drive back to Kathmandu. Evening free. Overnight.

 

DAY 09: LEAVE KATHMANDU
On time departure (Check-out time at 12:00) transfer to the airport.
